Situated a few minute’s drive off the Hume Highway in the NSW Southern Tablelands, Yass Caravan Park offers both campsites and on-site accommodation for those travelling in the region.
Campers have the choice of powered or unpowered sites that are suitable for tents, caravans, and RVs of all sizes. The campsites are grassed and some have concrete slabs. There are some drive-through sites available, giving easy access to large caravans and motorhomes. Trees are spread throughout the park, providing shade at some of the sites. On-site accommodation is provided in cabins that have heating and air conditioning and a kitchen/dining area. Pets are welcome on campsites, however are not permitted in the cabins.
Park facilities include guests’ laundry, playground equipment for the kids, and a sheltered barbecue area that has seating, tables, and a small kitchen area. The amenities block includes facilities for those with disabilities. If you’d like some exercise, there’s a sports ground next to the caravan park.
Yass is a well-serviced town, with medical clinics and a hospital, vet, supermarkets, a variety of shops, places to eat, and trade and professional services.
HOW TO GET THERE
Yass Caravan Park is located on the corner of Laidlaw and Grampian streets, with the entrance in Grampian Street. Laidlaw Street is a part of Yass Valley Way, the main road through Yass, which connects to the Hume Highway and Barton Way.
If you’ve come into town from the east or south, cross the Yass River and Grampian Street is the next street on the right, just after the sports ground. If approaching from the west, the park is just a few blocks into town. Turn left into Grampian Street just after the Hamilton Hume Motor Inn.
SITE ACCESS
The park has sites that can accommodate even the biggest of rigs. Drive-through access to some sites makes it easy to turn and park large vehicles.

THINGS TO DO
Walking trails
There are short and long walks both in and out of towns in the Yass Valley. The Yass town walk takes in many of the town’s historic buildings including churches, banks, bridges and hotels.
The Hume and Hovell Track extends from Yass to Albury and roughly follows the route taken by Hume and Hovell during their explorations in the 1820s, traversing a variety of topographies and vegetation types along the way. The walk starts from Cooma Cottage, Hamilton Hume’s home, which can also be toured.
Wineries
Wine lovers will be spoilt for choice in the Yass Valley, with 35 wineries between Yass and Canberra. Drive yourself or take a tour.
Lake Burrinjuck
Located a short distance southwest of Yass, Lake Burrinjuck is not only ideal for all types of water sports but also for birdwatching and bushwalking.
Parks
Yass has several parks where you can have a picnic or barbecue, go for a stroll, work out at fitness stations or just relax and take in the sights.
Museums
Yass Railway Museum features historical railway buildings as well as locomotives and other rolling stock. Or visit Yass and District Museum to see a varied display of historical items.
Carey’s Cave
Located 6 km from Wee Jasper, Carey’s Cave has seven chambers featuring limestone formations including stalagmites, stalactites, columns, flowstone, and helictites. Guided tours are available.
