Low-cost caravan park.
Many travellers of the Eyre highway turn off at Wirrulla to take the scenic route through the Gawler Ranges Rd. to Coober Pedy. The even more intrepid travel the final leg along the Kingoonya Rd. Getting up-to-date information about the current condition of both these routes is advisable before you head off and will be available at Wirrulla General Store or the pub. You need to be prepared for some rough roads if you’re going either way.
Whether you’re taking one of these or continuing along the Eyre, take the time for a stopover for a break, a welcome shower, a good feed, and a good rest before continuing on your way. The store also has groceries, fruit & veg, Post Office facilities, and fuel.
Across the road from Wirrulla’s Hotel, the camp facility is suitable for those of you towing a caravan. Located on some old tennis courts, this campground offers hot showers, public toilets, and 4 powered sites. They also have a children’s playground, picnic area, and public payphone. For travellers looking for an alternative, Wirrulla Hotel also provides motel room style accommodation. Meals and drinks are also available at the bar and restaurant.
In the very early years of European settlement, many pioneers travelled from Port Augusta through the Gawler Ranges to Ceduna and other west coast settlements. At the time, Wirrulla was a small but important way station for these travellers.
HOW TO GET THERE
Wirrulla is located 100 kilometres east of Ceduna and 35 kilometres northwest of Poochera. Turn North onto Gawler Ranges Rd, Turn right to stay on Gawler Ranges Rd then left to stay on Gawler Ranges Rd. The Hotel is on the left and the Campground is opposite.
SITE ACCESS
Direct access suitable for those who are towing a caravan. It is just a small triangular area with some trees. Most don’t unhook their vans if staying one or two nights as there is room to drive around to park.
FEES & BOOKINGS
Fee is $15/night per vehicle and keys are available from the General store or Hotel.
Honesty Box in the middle of the park accepting donations for power use.

THINGS TO DO
Wirrulla has a playground and a dirt bike track for children right next to caravan Park.
We have the famous inland jetty, but no water. If you’re into sports, you can go bowling or try their golf courses.
Wallalla granite rocks are 10km from town, loved by locals for barbecues and stunning views of Gawler Rangers.
