The original home of the Macadamia (The Bauple – pr. “Bopple” Nut). A small flat area just off the Bruce Highway on the southern approach to town Only 4.5km south of the village of Bauple. There is room for about 10-15 caravans or motorhomes.
HOW TO GET THERE
From the Bruce Highway access is best on the southern side of Bauple via Bauple Drive. The campground is then 600m on your right, opposite a green shed. (currently Longs Welding Works)
SITE ACCESS
Easy wide access direct off roadway.
FEES & BOOKINGS
Free camping area. There are no charges for using this area but they would love you to call into town and visit the Museum, Coffee Shop or Barenuts.
FACILITIES
There are no facilities here but the toilets at the museum are open all hours. There are also toilets and cold showers at the recreation ground which is a little further away.
THINGS TO DO
A walk around the village reveals a local Recreation Ground, a couple of churches, a Band Hall and of course the Macadamia Processing plant. The museum represents the whole district from here to the Fraser coastline and has an interesting collection for a gold coin donation.
