Great spot to stay for self-contained RVs.

The historic town of Mannum is located beside the Murray River 85 km east of Adelaide and around 30 km north of Murray Bridge. Mannum Golf Club is situated about 500m from the river and offers a camping area for both golfers and non-golfers.

The campground has unpowered and a limited number of powered sites. It’s best to book ahead if you require power. Sites for RVs are on a hard, compacted surface. There are toilets and water available but no showers, so you need to be self-sufficient. If you’d like some shade, there are some gum trees to help keep the sun off at some sites. The campground is dog friendly, though they need to be kept on a leash.

If you (or your dog) would like some exercise, there is a sportsground across the road from the golf club that has a football oval, cricket pitch, netball and basketball courts, and a skate park. There’s also a dump point at the sportsground.

Mannum is well serviced, with a hospital and medical clinics, chemist, supermarkets, eateries, hairdressers, mechanics, professional services, and a wide variety of shops.

HOW TO GET THERE
The golf club is well signed. The course runs beside Belvedere Road, however, to get to the entrance to the clubhouse and camping area you need to turn off Belvedere Road onto Boronia Road (which becomes Douglas Street). The clubhouse is about 200m from Belvedere Road on the right.

If coming from Murray Bridge, Belvedere Road runs off Mannum Road about 7 km before Mannum. The golf course is a few kilometres along and Boronia Road is the next turn right.

If coming into Mannum from the northwest, turn right into Ramm Road from Randell Road (Adelaide Road), follow for about 1.5 km, then turn right onto Belvedere Road. Boronia Road is about 200m along on the left.

SITE ACCESS
It’s best to ring before you arrive. Otherwise, when you get to the clubhouse, ring the number listed below and you’ll be told what you need to do. The sites are suitable for caravans, campers and motorhomes of all sizes, and there’s plenty of turning room in the campground.

FEES & BOOKINGS
Bookings are required.
Fees are from $20/night for Unowered Sites and $25/night for Powered Sites.
Prices are for 2 persons.

THINGS TO DO
Murray River
The Murray River is Mannum’s big drawcard. If you have a boat that you’d like to take out on the river, you’ll find three boat ramps within 5 minutes of the Mannum Golf Club campground. Alternatively, you can hire a boat or other watercraft, take a cruise on a paddle steamer for a couple of hours or several days, or swap your caravan for a houseboat for a while. If you prefer to stay on land, you can throw in a line to see what’s biting, have a relaxing walk or picnic, or view the river and surrounding area from Mannum Lookout.

Sounds by the River
This one-day music festival is held each January beside the Murray in Mary Ann Reserve, Mannum. It features big-name acts, which in previous years have included John Farnham, Suzi Quatro, Jimmy Barnes, and Diesel.

Mannum Dock Museum
Located beside the Murray River, the museum has a variety of displays relating to the history of life along the river. It includes paddle steamers, engines, and an original dry dock, as well as displays of local Aboriginal artefacts, fossils, and other historical items.

Mannum Hot Rod Show
Held each March, this show features modern and historic hot rods, as well as classic and custom vehicles.

SA Truck and Ute Show
For those into trucks, utes, and 4WDs, this event is held in Mannum each June, with more than 100 vehicles on display.

Markets
Mannum Riverside Market is held on the first Sunday of each month and features fresh local produce, food, and a range of arts and crafts.

Walks
There are three historic walking trails around Mannum, each going to different parts of the town. If you’re feeling energetic, there are also a couple of walks at Mannum Waterfalls, however, the tracks are steep in places.

Big Bend
Located about a 40-minute drive from Mannum, near Nildottie, Big Bend is the longest single bend along the entire Murray River. The area also has the river’s tallest cliffs, and there’s a lookout where you can take in the spectacular view.
