The picnic tables, barbecues, and toilets retain a semblance of modern convenience amidst the natural setting. Perhaps the site’s most picturesque feature is the old timber bridge that arches over the Genoa River, now serving as a pedestrian pathway and vantage point for panoramic river views.

Nestled just off the Princes Highway, the Genoa Rest Area is a convenient detour for those heading to or from Mallacoota. Approximately 1.5 kilometers from the Mallacoota turnoff, this hidden gem can be accessed via a sealed road, suitable for both self-contained and non-self-contained vehicles. The entrance to this riverside sanctuary is clearly marked, and a short drive down the access road reveals the welcoming expanse of the campground.

FEES & BOOKINGS
A spirit of community underpins the Genoa Rest Area, where a modest donation is encouraged to maintain the site’s facilities. While there are no booking requirements, as it operates on a ‘first come, first served’ basis, campers are invited to contribute to the upkeep via a donation box located near the toilets.
