This campground extends along the shoreline from the vicinity of the National Park Visitor Centre. There are Caravan and Motorhome sites ONLY at the Visitor Centre (Northern) end (Sites 1-18), all other sites are for tent camping and extend to Honeymoon Bay in Summer and at Easter only.  You must visit the Visitor Centre to pay and book or check in if already booked in peak season.

SITE ACCESS
The park is about 2 1/2 to 3 hours from either Hobart or Launceston. Turn off the Tasman Highway (A3) (which runs down the east coast of Tasmania) onto the Coles Bay Road (C302) 12 km south of Bicheno. (The turnoff to the Friendly Beaches section of the park is via a gravel road about 2 km after leaving the highway). The main park entrance and visitor reception are just after Coles Bay township about 30km from the highway on a good quality sealed road.

Due to the high demand for campsites, a ballot system operates from the 18th December until the 10th February and for Easter each year and is decided by a ballot system drawn early August. Applications should be received by Freycinet National Park by the 31st of July and must be made by letter/fax/email.

Ballot period: A ballot is drawn on the 1st August to allocate sites for the peak Summer Season from 18th December to 10th February and also Easter. Only one entry per family/group is allowed for Summer and another may be entered for Easter. Maximum stay is 10 nights for up to 6 people per site. Notification of the ballot draw will be as immediate after the draw as possible, usually by middle of August.

Non-Ballot period: Bookings Campsites can be pre-booked through the Freycinet Visitor Centre and full payment is required to hold the campsite. Outside of the Ballot period the maximum length of stay is 14 nights. Each site can accommodate up to 6 people. Please notify the Visitor Centre if you plan to arrive a day late. All bookings not taken up by the first night will be deemed a no show and cancelled (cancellation fees will apply).

Please contact the Visitor Reception Office on the above email to make bookings for other times of the year.
Contact the visitor centre to enquire about availability and bookings. Outside opening hours, booking and other details are found on the display board outside the visitor centre.

National Park entry fees and conditions apply.

Most National Parks in Tasmania require NATIONAL PARK ENTRY FEES in addition to Camping Fees.

THINGS TO DO
Freycinet is a great place to go bird watching. You may be lucky enough to see a white-bellied sea-eagle gliding overhead or large Australasian gannet diving for food in the ocean.
Freycinet National Park offers a wide variety of activities. Take a walk to the pass overlooking the perfectly shaped Wineglass Bay, trek the entire length of the Freycinet Peninsula on a three day walk or try less strenuous activities like beach strolls, swimming or wildlife spotting.
