THIS AREA IS CLOSED FOR AN UNSPECIFIED TIME FROM JULY 2023; ALL ENQUIRIES TO MT ISA CITY COUNCIL

A very large area on the Western side of the Billabongs just out of town; a great spot for a couple of days or so.  There are two areas, the first Lake Francis, is immediately on the left, the second area, Lake Canellan, is about 2km from the entry point.

HOW TO GET THERE
Camooweal is between Mount Isa and the NT and is only 13km East of the border. The Billabong area is accessed via a turnoff just West of the bridge on the edge of town.

SITE ACCESS
Once in the camp area follow the various tracks towards the Billabong and pick a spot! Not accessible in wet conditions.

There is no charge for the use of this facility, so if you are staying at this site we encourage you to help keep it clean, and please visit and support the local community.

THINGS TO DO
While in Camooweal visit The Barkly Tableland Heritage Centre, Camooweal Caves National Park, Camooweal Cemetery, and the Drovers Camp Information Centre.

Free camp at Camooweal Billabong is amazing. So peaceful and beautiful sunsets. Gorgeous part of the country.
