Camp within 500m of a historic ruin, a remnant of early European settlement in the area. A perfect rest stop for those driving the Dukes Highway. There are two sites available at this location.
Enjoy the peaceful surroundings of the Ngarkat Conservation Park and take in the views over the park’s 270,000 hectares of vegetated sand dunes, mallee and heath.

SITE ACCESS
Ngarkat Conservation Park is located 34km south of Pinaroo. Access is via Princes Highway. Alternatively take the Mallee Highway from Tailem Bend via Peake and Lameroo or Snozwells Road near Tintinara off the Dukes Highway.

Please note: GPS Co-Ordinates are approximate and provided in most cases to get you to the National Park entrance. Once inside the park there should be signs to the actual camp grounds. Failing this please check with National Parks for further directions.

FEES
Camping fees from $10 per vehicle (max 8 people).
Camping permits are available from self-registration stations at all main park entrances – correct change is required. Permits can also be purchased at the Bordertown Visitor Information Centre and Tintinara Visitor Information Centre.
Park access fees are applicable to this park.

Many National Parks in South Australia require a Park Pass to enter. The prices for the Park Parks may vary. Read more about FEES & PARK PASSES.
Please check PARK CLOSURES prior to attending.

THINGS TO DO
The park abounds in wildlife. Look out for western grey kangaroo and emus and more than 120 species of birds. You may spot a rare Malleefowl walking slowly among the trees.
A number of walking trails give you the opportunity to see the wildlife and get a better appreciation of the vast mallee landscape. Enjoy the magnificent views from Tyms Lookout along a 2-3 hour hike. Early attempts to farm this country failed as seen by the ruins of early European pioneering settlements at Box Flat. Home to the legendary Border Track, the park has a popular 4WD track.

RULES
Wood fires and solid fuel fires are prohibited during Fire Ban periods.
Take rubbish home with you – if you carry it in, carry it out.
Generators are allowed, but please respect the peace and privacy of others.
