Birds on Barron Guesthouses and Campground is situated on 100 acres on the beautiful Barron River just 8 km North of Mareeba and in close proximity to the Mareeba Wetlands and Golden Drop Winery.

They offer a clean, safe and comfortable haven for guests requiring a unique non-formal stay with spacious and private campsites. Powered sites are minimal and self-contained camping vehicles/vans are preferred. The property also offers some lovely safe swimming holes and freshwater fishing.

Amenities are available to campers at an added cost, there is a communal fire pit for guests to enjoy with plenty of wood to collect on the property. You are also welcome to explore the orchard which provides some tasty seasonal treats.

Birdlife is prolific with plenty of accessible country to explore. The Barron River boasts clear running water year-round which provides a great place to cool off on hot days. Horses and cattle share the paddocks, so it’s not uncommon to be visited by a curious horse while relaxing under your annexe and enjoying the afternoon breezes.

We intended to stay for 2 nights and have been here for over a week. The property is large, which means you have plenty of space to yourself. Great solar, TV and phone reception. Mareeba is 10 minutes away, with a dump point, drinking water, supermarkets etc. We based ourselves here for a trip to Chilligo, Tinaroo Dam and Cape Tribulation. The owners are there if you need anything, but also happy to leave you to your own devices. There are horses, that will come and visit and an emu. The property is on the Barron River, which is absolutely beautiful. Open fires are also allowed. Will definately be back.

Great relaxing atmosphere with a wide range of sites to chose, from the orchard to hideaways down by the river. The hosts are extremely helpful and provide help in many unexpected areas. A great place to relax.
