The original home of the Macadamia (The Bauple – pr. “Bopple” Nut). A small area in the village of Bauple only 100m from the local Museum and just a short detour from the current Bruce Highway from either direction. There is room for about 8-10 caravans or motorhomes.
HOW TO GET THERE
From the Bruce Highway in either direction take the Bauple turn off (the old Highway – now Bauple Drive); 4.5km south of Tiaro, 40km north of Gympie.
SITE ACCESS
A drive through loop on the corner of Main Street and Bauple Drive.
FEES & BOOKINGS
Free camping area. There are no charges for using this area
FACILITIES
There are no facilities here but the toilets at the museum are open all hours. There are also toilets and cold showers at the recreation ground which is a little further away.
THINGS TO DO
A walk around the village reveals a local Recreation Ground, a couple of churches, a Band Hall and of course the Macadamia Processing plant. The museum represents the whole district from here to the Fraser coastline and has an interesting collection for a gold coin donation.
