This is a fantastic Campsite located right on the banks of Babinda Creek. While having no formal fee a donation is requested of at least $5 for up to three nights. The site is quite large with a few areas to choose from. As you drive in, there is a flat gravelled area to the left, which wraps around the toilet and shower block. There are mostly level sites in this area, some with shade. Some are on the paved section, but most are on grass. Past this, up a slight incline there is a larger flat gravel area. There are grass verges surrounding this area with sites in full sun and some sites on the riverbanks under the shade of the trees.

The river which runs beside the site has crystal clear water in it, many people swim in it, but it is best to be Croc wise, as they have been spotted in the nearby area. The entrance to the site is also used as a day picnic area. It is suitable for all size rigs and pets are permitted on a leash.

There a signs on the site which outline all the rules of this site.

ACCESS
Access is best via Howard-Kennedy Drive, which runs off the main Bruce Highway.  The turn off is opposite the bright blue information center just at the entrance to town.  As soon as you turn off the highway, turn right into Howard-Kennedy Drive, follow it for about 400m where it will veer into a sharp left hand bend in the roadway.  The turn off is just on your left after this bend, and before the bridge.  It is well signposted.

FACILITIES
There is a new toilet and shower block (Showers $2 coin-operated) on the site with disabled access.  It was replaced after the last cyclone.  It is kept reasonably clean.  There is also water, waste bins and a dump point.

FEES
This is a donation site and bookings are not required.  You can stay for a maximum of 72 Hours. Whilst the site is reasonable large, it tends to fill up very quickly in peak season and can become crowded.  As this is a free site, we encourage you to keep it clean and please visit and support the local town and area.

THINGS TO DO
Babinda is a small, but very well serviced, it is surrounded by National Parks and two of Queensland’s highest mountains with crystal clear streams and some amazing waterfalls.  It is ideal for bush-walking, fishing, or just relaxing by crystal clear water.  See our Babinda Review for more details.
