FREE ACCESS TO ALL CATEGORIES

As you may be aware, we recently finished uploading the majority of camping sites to the directory. We now have over 8000 listings ranging from Rest Areas, Free Camps, Low Cost Camps, $25 Plus camps, Dump Points and Tourist Information Centers. The next stage will see us opening up registrations for our Help Out Sections, followed by House Sitting listings. What you may not know however, is that we have now decided to make all these categories available on-line for FREE. We have dispensed with our original premium membership model and will now allow full access to all our online content at no charge. So please log on and have a good look around and let us know what you think.

TOWN REVIEW - RAINBOW BEACH, QLD

We recently spent a week in the Rainbow Beach area. Whilst we have been there before, we did not previously view it from the point of view of a camper. Now that we are on the road full time however, we understand the needs of travellers, and how hard it can be to find what you need in a new town. In this article we have a look at a few of the things to discover and do around Rainbow Beach and the many services the town provides. It was great to be able to shop locally and support some of the local businesses and specialty shops, including the local fish shop, butcher and the recently opened Rainbow Fruits who both promote local produce where possible. There are also opportunities to take a 4WD Tour to Frazer Island with Fraser Explorer Tours, or snag a big one with Tony from Rainbow Beach Fishing Charters.

CAMP SITE REVIEW - M.V.SARAWAK

Whilst recently staying in the Rainbow Beach area, we set up camp at one of the many camp sites along the Inskip Peninsular. Voted as one of the best beach spots to camp in winter, we couldn’t agree more. It was right on the beach, and the weather was perfect. There are a total of 5 camp grounds with over 2000 sites along the peninsula, all low cost and Pet Friendly. We stayed at M.V. Sarawak, which is probably the easiest access for larger vans and rigs, the other sites each offer something different from tents to 4WD only sections. You can find out more about each of these campsite and see photos of them in the directory.

REVERSE ALERT

We have known about this product for a while now, but after recently reversing into a post at a service station and denting the bike rack, we can now see the value in it. It could have just as easily been a small child that was run over. The beauty of Reverse Alert is that it doesn’t just beep as you get closer to an object, it actually STOPS you dead in your tracks. Preventing you hitting objects or running over kids. We were lucky enough to meet the distributors of this great product recently and see it in action, and can see the benefits of it, especially on motorhomes and caravans. The reverse alert unit can be retro fitted to any vehicle. Not not only can it save lives, it could also save you thousands in damages.

HELPING OUT

Just a reminder that we are now taking registrations for our Help Out Section. This totally free service will be for anyone - Farmers, Individuals, or Organizations that are needing a helping hand from travellers. Hosts will provide members with a site for RV's, in return for a few hours help. To find out more about this concept, read about our first Help Out in the Margaret River. 'Unable to find suitable accommodation, we helped out a local farmer and got to stay for over a month in this magic spot.'
